Asking for Wisdom.
Earlier this morning, I was audibly babbling to God about giving me wisdom after I read the words “wisdom” on a young man’s shirt. Later at 5 PM, I met a not-so-stranger person on the streets. He told me a few parables. He says “በለሷን የጠበቀ ፍሬዋን ይበላል”። He was teaching about being patient. He said, “attending to a fig tree, will yield fruit”. And I was like, waiting for seven years to get a fruit is difficult. He went on to add another parable. This time he was speaking about a husband and wife disagreeing over unborn, unconceived calf. The wife wanted to tie it in the hut, the husband wanted it outside. They had a disagreement over the matter and the husband throws a log at the wife which led to her downfall. He also told a parable about Olive tree. He said “ወይራ በሐገሩ አይሰበርም”። An Olive tree won't be broken in its native country. I went to add the first part of a quote from a notable priest, “ያገራችን ወይራዎች ክረምትና በጋ ሲመጣ ሲጠማዘዙ ፥ ሲጠማዘዙ • • • ወይራን ለማቃናት እን’ዴት ከባድ መሰላችሁ!”. It meant Ethiopians are "crooked", according to the priest. Nobody speaks in parables anymore!
